Our sustainability philosophy

In 2024, we at Kjerringa me’ Straumen have worked diligently towards becoming a certified Norwegian Ecotourism company. Our philosophy has always been rooted in sustainability, which we demonstrate by giving new life to second-hand treasures in our café—from cups and plates to furniture. We aim to reduce our footprint by minimizing food waste, composting, and using environmentally certified products and services.

Ecotourism is a core philosophy in everything we do. This means we always value great hospitality and memorable experiences for our guests. With us, we offer experiences for body, mind, and soul, where the meeting between people is at the heart of our philosophy.

By using Klokkarstu as our venue, we contribute to preserving this protected building through active use. We share cultural history by telling the story of Klokkarstu, our entrepreneurial journey, and our sustainability philosophy. In addition, we are proud to be storytellers of local history in the heart of Straumen through our narratives.

As a member of Den Gyldne Omvei, we actively contribute to a more sustainable local community. We emphasize using local ingredients in our cooking, with products from various local producers. Through close collaboration with businesses in Inderøy and Den Gyldne Omvei, we work to strengthen the local network and cooperation.

Through the illustrations of Magne Taraldsen, we have captured the essence of the various businesses we collaborate with, in a humorous and creative way.

We value great hospitality and are committed to living in the moment!

As part of our efforts to achieve certification as a Norwegian Ecotourism company, we, along with our employees, have visited our local partners to learn about their operations and their work towards becoming sustainable businesses.
